Chocolate Applesauce Fruitcake

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup melted butter or oil
2 cups applesauce
1 cup raisins
1 cup walnuts, chopped
1 large container dried fruit

Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix dry ingredients.  Add oil and applesauce.
Mix in raisins, walnuts, dried fruits.
Pour into greased loaf pans.  Bake for 1 hour (depending on pan size),
or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Note:
For extra chocolate flavor, add 1/2 cup more cocoa and 1/2 cup more
applesauce.
For Christmas cakes, decorate top with cherries, walnut halves, etc. I
use red and green cherry pieces to make holly as decoration.
