Google and Search Engine Optimization
You may have heard the term “SEO” or Search Engine Optimization. SEO describes how to increase a website’s ranking in search results. It can be done through several different methods, such as on-page SEO (optimizing your site for search engines), off-page SEO (optimizing your site to make it more attractive to search engines), and even social media marketing (making sure your content is seen by as many people as possible). We are going to start off, by discussing on-page SEO.
The best way to see what a website has to offer is by crawling it. Google will crawl a website to identify, just what the site is offering.
After a site is crawled, Google will index the site and put it on its search engine. The more Googlebot visits your site the better. This is because each visit to a site will give you a ranking and in turn get more traffic.
These are the first two steps to getting your website found on the world wide web. After it has been crawled and indexed, then Google does its search engine optimization magic and ranks your site.
