Preventing and surviving a ransomware attack

Ransomware is a type of malware that threatens to publish the victim’s personal data, or it will block access to it unless a ransom is paid. Some simple ransomware may lock the system, without any file damage. However, advanced ransomware may use a technique called crypto-viral extortion.

Any virus or ransomware attack can be devastating. There are somethings you can do to prevent an attack or to lessen the severity of an attach and improve recovery time. 

First is to be careful about what you are downloading or clicking on in your email. You should also not mix your business computing with your personal computing. An attack on one will affect both. You should also have a regular back up plan in place.
